The terrain of Southern Africa is varied, ranging from forest and grassland to desert. The region has both low-lying coastal areas, and mountains. It has complex Plateaus that create massive mountain structures along the South African border.
Southern African countries are home to many cultures and people with many African languages, particularly in South Africa where English, Afrikaans and those of the Indian sub-continent have been added as a result of immigration and pioneers that date back to 1651 with the arrival of Europeans at the Cape of Good Hope.
Southern African countries offer a vast variety of wildlife of which "the big five"- Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard are highlights of any safari tours.
